Seventh Annual “Pints for Pounds” Campaign

Seventh Annual “Pints for Pounds” Campaign Begins March 6

Donate blood and double your impact this March as the Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB) once again teams up with Russ’s Market, to save lives and give back by filling the shelves at the Food Bank of Lincoln.

Beginning March 6 through March 23, Russ’s Market will donate a pound of food to the Food Bank of Lincoln for every pint of blood donated at any NCBB location. The “Pints for Pounds” campaign goal is to collect 2,000 pounds/pints, but the challenge doesn’t end there. To encourage additional donations, Food Bank of Lincoln collection barrels will be on display at all NCBB locations throughout the campaign. The most needed items include food and personal care supplies such as canned meats, soup, vegetables and fruits, diapers, toilet paper and soap.

“As the sponsor for this year’s campaign, we’re ready to save lives and fight hunger, but we need your help,” said Pat Raybould, president of Russ’s Market. “Give a pint, Russ’s Market will give a pound of food, and together we will improve the lives of hundreds in our community.”

Last year, NCBB donors surpassed the 2,000 pounds/pints campaign goal giving a total of 2,270 pints of blood. With the additional food donations from donors and NCBB staff, 3,376 pounds of needed food and personal care items were delivered to the Food Bank of Lincoln.
