A United States Military Blackhawk Helicopter will practice landing on the helipad at Bryan West Campus in preparation for the Guardians of Freedom Airshow in Lincoln this weekend.

Bryan Health is pleased to participate in this demonstration that will help simulate and reinforce our systems of receiving patients from transports like the Blackhawk Helicopter in the event of an accident during the airshow. The demonstration is scheduled to last approximately 30 minutes. At the conclusion of the demonstration, media will be invited inside the Bryan Trauma Center to see the facilities in which any injured individuals would be treated.

For more than 30 years, Bryan has been the designated Trauma Center for Southeast Nebraska. The facility is verified as a Level II Trauma Center by the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons, an achievement that recognizes dedication to providing immediate and optimal care for critically injured patients.

Since the Bryan Trauma Center opened in 1977, over 26,000 patients have been saved, with 97 percent of all trauma patients arriving with signs of life surviving. That figure rises to 99 percent with pediatric trauma patients.
